Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about course registration

Registration times are assigned based on your classification (seniors register first, then juniors, sophomores, and freshmen) and credit hours completed. Check the Student Portal for your exact date and time.

You have several options: (1) Add yourself to the waitlist if available, (2) Check back frequently as students may drop, (3) Speak to the department about increasing capacity, (4) Take an alternative course and try again next semester.

Full-time students typically take 12-18 credit hours per semester. 15 credit hours (5 courses) is considered standard. Taking more requires advisor approval. Consider your work commitments, difficulty of courses, and other responsibilities when deciding.

No, the system will block registration for courses where you haven't completed prerequisites. In rare cases with advisor and department approval, a prerequisite waiver may be granted.

The add/drop period (typically the first week of classes) allows you to make schedule changes without financial penalty. After this period, you can still withdraw from courses, but may forfeit tuition and receive a "W" grade.

Holds prevent registration and must be resolved before you can register. Common holds include: unpaid fees, missing documents, or advising holds. Contact the relevant office (Bursar, Registrar, or your College) to resolve holds.
